Weather In GlasgowCurrent Weather Conditions+5 Days Forecast
Weather in Glasgow is classified as oceanic, which is in sharp contrast to the city’s northerly latitude. Another major influence on the patterns of weather in Glasgow is the Gulf Stream and as a result temperatures experienced in the city are higher than those of places of same latitude. Standing on the River Clyde with close proximity to the sea, Glasgow weather is amongst the milder found in Scotland. In comparison to conditions found across Scotland, weather in Glasgow is undeniably warmer, thanks to the immense influence of the hills on its north and south-west, which shield the city from extreme cold conditions. In comparison to England however, weather in Glasgow tends to be slightly cooler, at the same time being cloudier than the rest of Scotland. Overall though, weather in Glasgow is characteristically stable with mild conditions prevailing during winter, the summers following rather warm patterns.
Winter Because of the city’s Northern Hemisphere location, winter descents upon Glasgow with the arrival of November, finally handing over the reign to spring when March rolls in. Weather in Glasgow during this time of the year is mainly mild although somewhat overcast, although hash conditions accompanied by frosty weather as well as snow do have the tendency to penetrate normal patterns. January is the coldest month of the year; although mercury usually hovers 4.0 °C, it quite frequently takes a nose dive oscillating just bellow freezing point. Precipitation is also at its peak, the rest of the season tending to be significantly drier in comparison. Clear skies are something of a rarity and although snow does occasionally occur, it hardly ever piles up in the city centre. Irrespective of the tendencies of weather in Glasgow, visitors to the city will be amazed at the plethora of attractions on offer. Even when the days seem to be at their gloomiest, tourists can still make something of their holiday, by paying visits to the many museums, the science centre or native Charles Rennie Mackintosh gallery.
Spring The arrival of March brings a welcome change to the patterns of weather in Glasgow. Conditions are considerably milder, the days warmer and sunnier and the spring colours are in full bloom making the many parks and gardens of the city an awe-inspiring sight.
Summer During the summer months of June, July, August and September, Glasgow weather’s aptitude for rapid change is in full swing. Although the city is at its hottest during the summer period with temperatures often reaching 20°C, occasionally soaring higher, conditions oscillate between mild or warm and wet or sunny.
